Strengthening Skills, Supporting Families, Improving Pediatric Care!
Join us for the 33rd Annual Robert E. Myers, MD Lectureship in Pediatrics, a focused half‑day virtual conference designed to empower pediatric providers with the knowledge and practical strategies needed to address some of the most pressing and often underrecognized challenges in today’s pediatric practice.
This year’s program brings together expert pediatric faculty to address critical gaps in clinical practice related to human trafficking, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and complex neuromotor conditions. Through evidence‑based guidance and real‑world clinical insights, participants will gain tools to improve early identification, strengthen interdisciplinary coordination, and optimize long‑term health outcomes for vulnerable pediatric populations.
Target Audience
Physicians $100
Advanced Practice Providers $50
Residents $50
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the attendee should be able to:
- Identify trafficking indicators from other forms of abuse, neglect, or high-risk adolescent behaviors.
- Assess the safety risks and immediate needs of a patient suspected of being trafficked.
- Determine when to involve multidisciplinary partners, including social work, child protective services, or law enforcement.
- Apply evidence-based strategies to recognize early functional indicators of cerebral palsy and determine when a child requires timely referral to pediatric physiatry or other interdisciplinary specialists.
- Integrate physiatric management principles—including tone modifying interventions, orthotic considerations, and anticipatory guidance—to develop and reinforce comprehensive care plans that prevent secondary musculoskeletal complications in children with cerebral palsy.
- Identify early orthopedic warning signs—including hip displacement, scoliosis, and lower extremity deformities—in children with Cerebral Palsy and Spina Bifida during routine primary care visits.
- Apply evidence based musculoskeletal screening and imaging strategies to determine when timely referral to a pediatric orthopedic specialist is warranted.
- Implement coordinated care pathways by integrating surveillance guidelines, family concerns, and functional goals to support earlier intervention and reduce preventable morbidity.
- Apply anticipatory guidance strategies that reinforce rehabilitation and orthopedic goals.
- Integrate clinical presentation, functional needs, and family goals to determine when multidisciplinary referral is necessary to optimize patient outcomes.
