OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Articulate the overall impact of religious bias and discrimination upon the health of the populations we serve.
2. Identify the ways in which religious bias and discrimination can create real harm for the persons they care for.
3. Distinguish ways in which personal bias about religion can be recognized and addressed to eliminate potential harm to those for whom they care.
4. Develop strategies that proactively engage religious experience as an opportunity to establish trust and tapped as a positive resource in their patients’ total care.
5. Examine some ways in which their personal set of beliefs can be integrated into their care of patients while remaining supportive of their patients’ beliefs and values
