OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

•Discuss Texas law as it applies to guardianship for patients having no advance directives.
•Describe the terminology that forms the basis for Texas law.
•Identify the four kinds of advance directives recognized in Texas.
•Discuss a directive to physician’s forms.
•Discuss a DNR (do not resuscitate) directive to include a discussion of life sustaining treatments.
