2024 Obstetrics and Critical Care Course 20241029
There are increasing maternal mortality and morbidity rates in Texas. Recent studies in 2014, revealed that the maternal mortality rate was 35.8%; compared to 17.4% in 2000. There are more critically ill OB patients than ever before and they are being treated in non-obstetric areas. With increasing maternal age and co-morbidities, it is imperative to increase collaboration and education between the specialties (Society of Critical Care Medicine. 2017).
