In addition to how clinicians use documentation within the medical record, payers and governmental agencies use documentation to ensure resources are utilized appropriately and to evaluate the quality of care provided. In addition, over FY24, there were 436 queries sent for malnutrition
 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe “malnutrition” and understand the clinical presentation.
  • Apply diagnostic criteria of severe and moderate protein-calorie malnutrition per ASPEN/AND Indicators of Malnutrition (AAIM).
  • Review incidence, impact, and related complications of malnutrition.
  • Analyze examples of malnutrition workflows in clinical practice and best practices for documentation.
