OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Describe the similarities in histopathology between lupus nephritis and IgA nephropathy
2. Review the pathogenic pathways of lupus nephritis and the role of complement activation in both diseases
3. Review past treatments for IgA and lupus nephritis and to examine evolving treatments targeting complement
inhibition in the treatment of IgA nephropathy and lupus nephritis.
