Medicine Grand Rounds is designed to review existing cases and apply the most current evidence-based knowledge and guidelines to establish treatment plans for improved patient outcomes.
The purpose of the Internal Medicine Grand Rounds series is to provide the Internal Medicine physician audience with lectures to allow physicians to improve techniques involved in the diagnosis and management of disease often seen by Internal Medicine Physicians.
OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Describe the multitude of physical, emotional, and psychological injuries sustained by Sam Baker and his remarkable road to finding peace, (2) Discuss the entanglement of chronic pain, depression, addiction, and PTSD and the care and therapies that helped Sam overcome them, (3) Identify practical coping strategies for developing resilience by healthcare providers to improve their care of themselves as well as their patients.
