Overview: 

An estimated 5.5 million Americans live with dementia there is a need for multifaceted care delivery across the care continuum. At Baylor Scott and White Health there is a demand for dementia education by care team staff. Dementia care varies over time, even on a day-to-day basis,  requiring constant adjustments to provide high quality care.

After participating in this activity, the learner should be able to: 

  • Identify clinical signs that there may be cognitive impairment.
  • Perform cognitive screening appropriate for the patient based on their reading level.
  • Identify key components included in the dementia workup.
  • Tailor the patient’s treatment plan to the ever-changing dementia status of the patient.
