20250829 Quality Alliance Lunch and Learn: Diabetes Subcommittee: Hyperlipidemia and Diabetes

August 29, 2025

Over the last decade, advancements in lipid management have significantly improved the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease in patients with diabetes. Despite these strides, many diabetic patients are still not achieving optimal LDL-C targets. In addition, advanced lipid-lowering therapies—such as PCSK9 inhibitors and bempedoic acid—remain underutilized in primary care.

Target Audience

Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Residents, Nurses, and Social Workers.

  • Evidence based nutritional strategies for lipid lowering to reduce cardiovascular risk
  • Select and initiate appropriate therapies including statins, ezetimibe, PCSK9 inhibitors, and others
