- Objectives: At the end of this session participants will be able to…
- 1. Describe how exercising gratitude can improve personal wellbeing.
- 2. Identify ways to apply exercising gratitude in personal daily practice amongst healthcare teams to improve team dynamics.
- Activity 1: Reflection questions: What are some things you most grateful for? Who are the recipients of your gratitude? Why are you grateful for this person? Write a thank you note on a postcard and mail it from the bottom of the GC. And/or record audio or video of your answers. Consider sharing this gratitude in a thank you card or message upon return. Or sharing your audio or video file with this person.
- Activity 2: Small group facilitator: at a time in the hike plan a ~5 min conversation over the topic of gratitude and offer those willing to share in reflections. It may end at 5 min or organically extend.
- Participants will attest to completing at least one hour of session activity and identify changes upon claiming CME
Location: Grand Canyon National Park. - Being in nature will distance the learner cohort from the stimuli of clinical/academic practice into a remote environment with ample opportunity for self reflection and small group discussion. Participants benefit from the healing effect of a natural environment (forest bathing) and offered the opportunity for direct engagement through participant appropriate physical activities.
