A fascination for science and a strong desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives during their most challenging times drove Dr. Shankar to pursue a career in medicine.  She is passionate about preventive cardiology, with a particular focus on the prevention and treatment of women's cardiovascular disease.

The field is constantly evolving, and Dr. Shankar is excited to see the new and improved options for preventing and treating coronary artery disease, heart failure, and valve disease.  Her practice philosophy centers on spending time with the patient to help them navigate through the cardiovascular disease process and viewing the patient and doctor as a team, working together to build long-lasting, patient-doctor relationships.
