Concept

Increased societal awareness of the needs of the dying and bereaved requires helpers to utilize up-to-date theoretical principles and innovative treatment techniques to help patients/families prepare for the end of life, navigate events surrounding death, manage acute grief, and adjust after bereavement.

 

Target Audience

This educational activity is designed for professionals and lay persons involved in the care of the dying and bereaved, including physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, counselors, chaplains/clergy, hospice workers, allied health professionals, funeral directors, and volunteers.

Continuing education credits:

Social Work - This program is approved for 9.0 CEU Hour and 1 Ethics hour.  Baylor Scott & White Health provider number CS4934, has been awarded CEU Provider Status by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners.

Psychologists - Baylor Scott & White Health is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Baylor Scott & White Health maintains responsibility for this program its content. This program provides up to 6 CE credits. Credit is based on a session by session basis.

Licensed Professional Counselors - LPC Board Rule 681.3174(6) states that programs which are approved or offered by a "nationally recognized professional organization in the mental health field..." (i.e., American Medical Association ) are acceptable for LPC CE credit. This program is approved for 6 hours of CE credit.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists - Baylor Scott & White Health has been approved a a continuing education sponsor for the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists. The program on Friday is approved for 6 hours of CE credit.

Chaplains - Association of Professional Chaplains states the credit recognized by approved provides, eg. Continuing Medical Education, can be counted for continuing education credit for chaplains. This will provide 6 Category 1 credits for Friday's session.
